Level of qualification
There are no formal entry requirements. However, students are expected to have some knowledge of risk management tools and techniques. Students with limited or no risk management knowledge/experience are advised to take IRM's International Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management before attempting this qualification.
Completion of the financial services certificate will grant exemptions to modules 1 and 2 of the International Diploma in Enterprise Risk Management, leaving just 4 modules to complete to achieve the full diploma.
English language requirements
IRM's qualifications are delivered and assessed in English. If you are a non-UK student, and English is not your first langauge, we recommend you have an Academic IELTS score of 6.0 (with no element less than 5.5) or equivalent evidence of competence in the English language, before commencing your studies.
How long does it take to complete?
It takes six to nine months to complete this qualification.
Average study time
An indicative study time for the qualification is between 180 and 200 hours.
The course is assessed by a 3 hour written examination. The pass mark is 50%.
Yes - Successful completion of the Certificate in Financial Services plus five years professional experience enables you to apply for IRM Technical Specialist membership and use our internationally recognised designation SIRM after your name.
There are two examination sessions for the Certificate in Financial Services. These are normally the first week in June and the last week in November. Click here for more details.
