Join the IRM team: Chief Examiner and Assessor
Purpose
The Chief Examiner and Assessor will be responsible to the IRM for maintaining standards across different course assessment specifications year on year. S/he will also ensure that all assessments are valid, reliable, comparable and meets the requirements of the specification.
Reporting to: Director of Qualifications
Responsible for: Principal Examiners and Assessors
Key Responsibilities
- To supervise and provide clear guidance to Principal Examiners and Assessors on the development of examination question papers, assignment tasks, marking criteria and answer guides to ensure that appropriate standards are met, and that each module or qualification fits the profile of the agreed taxonomy
- To work with the External Examiners to review and evaluate examination questions and assignment tasks for accuracy, consistency, validity, reliability, and syllabus alignment;
- To moderate and review a sample of candidate scripts and assignments across all modules to maintain the overall standard of marking and moderation;
- To Chair the Technical Review Meetings for MCQ assessments with Pearson Vue or any future MCQ providers
- To participate in the Awarding process to ensure there is comparability in the standards of awards across all qualifications;
- To Chair the Examinations and Awards Sub-Committee; and Quality Review and Qualifications development Sub-Committee, presenting actions to the Awarding Committee;
Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience
Essential:
- previous experience in assessment development, delivery and awarding;
- teaching, tutoring or coaching experience in risk management;
- experience in managing people
- excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to give constructive criticism and feedback
- ability to meet strict deadlines
- high level of attention to detail
- prior experience in Chairing meetings
- good IT skills
Desirable:
- experience in working within a regulated awarding organisation
- recognised teaching or training qualification, or equivalent;
- experience of using virtual learning environment (Moodle is preferrable)
Time commitment: Approx. 25-27 days a year
