Will you embrace equity in 2023?

This year's theme for International Women's Day is 'Embracing Equity', equity, and equality are often used interchangeably, but they don’t actually mean the same thing. Equality is the end goal, and equity is how you get there.

We here at the IRM continuously want to find ways to uplift women, especially in the risk world in which most senior roles are predominantly held by men, whether it's highlighting the achievements of our staff or sharing the stories of our incredible students around the world. But none of that matters if we don't see results, and change.

We recently reissued our Risk Agenda 2025 Survey to IRM members across the globe. In 2018, when the original survey was issued, less than 10% of respondents listed that they were women in a senior role (i.e. Manager or Director), as of 2023, we've seen an increase to over 25% of respondents have a senior risk role, with the majority being women in Risk Director positions.
