ISO 37000:2021 Governance of organizations — Guidance
ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) is a worldwide federation of national standards bodies. The work of preparing International Standards is normally carried out through ISO technical committees and international organizations, governmental and non-governmental, in liaison with ISO, also take part in the work. The Institute of Risk Management is a liaison organisation contributing to the work of governance standards, including ISO 37000 as the Chair of IRM’s ESG represented not only the UK but the IRM in development of this important guidance on the governance of organizations. This guidance sets out the principles and key aspects of practices for governing bodies in relation to meeting their responsibilities so that the organizations they govern can fulfil their purpose. The insight and experience the Chair gained in the process of collaborating with members of an international community of experts in governance influenced her thought leadership and establishment of the IRM ESG SIG.
