Professional Standards in Risk Management
High standards of competence and integrity are vital for the emerging risk profession. As the professional and educational body for risk management, IRM has a leading role to play in setting these standards. They provide a framework for IRM's qualifications and training and for continued professional development for individuals.
The standards set out what we believe risk professionals should know and what they should be able to do at various levels of their career. They are flexible to accomodate different levels of risk maturity within organisations and the wide range of variations that exist in risk job roles. Developed through independent research and consultation they reflect professional expectations of the knowledge, skills and behaviour required from those working in risk management. They also reflect an enterprise risk management approach, recognising the principles of the global risk management standard ISO 31000 and other influential and relevant standards.
