The IRM is interested to add a Legal Risk Special Interest Group (SiG) to its current portfolio.
The constant changes and pressures impacting the profession create the need for ever more effective and sophisticated business risk management. Historically for many firms the focus has been on operational risk management and the link to PII premiums.
Recent changes affecting the legal profession will provide challenges in terms of meeting corporate governance requirements and adapting to non-lawyers as potential owners of law firms.
It is against this background that a Legal Risk SIG is proposed to provide firms with the opportunity to identify and tackle the key risk management issues facing their practices in the post Clementi era ensuring that what could be perceived as potential risks can be successfully managed and where possible converted into opportunities.
