| Project Risk Management Master Class |
1 day course |
All projects are risky, and effective risk management is a key contributor to project and business success. Project risk management is well established, with an agreed process, accepted methods and proven techniques. Despite this consensus, some elements of risk management are still problematic. This intermediate level Master Class addresses these sticking–points, presenting practical solutions to the most difficult parts of the risk process. |
| Foundational Project Risk Management |
2 day course |
This two-day course is structured around the process described in the best-practice “Project Risk Analysis & Management (PRAM) Guide” (second edition) from the UK Association for Project Management (APM). It aims to improve understanding of the purpose, principles and practice of project risk management and the essential requirements for risk to be managed successfully. |
Crisis Management - Who Needs It?
|
1 day course |
‘Crisis Management’ is all about how to make prompt and accurate assessments during the acute face of any corporate drama. Above all to make decisions to protect (perhaps enhance) brand, image and reputation. Not easy when events will probably be moving faster than the organisation, yet failure to act amounts to corporate negligence. New Cabinet Office/ BSI guidance will shortly be issued on this subject, which connects to other disciplines such as Risk and Business Continuity management. This one day highly focused workshop is designed to equip attendees with all the basic tools they need to cope rather than collapse in any crisis. |
Risk Management Standards Workshop |
Half day course |
For ages the risk management market had a dearth of standards: it was either COSO, Aus/NZ or the IRM/Airmic/ALARM standard. Now, in a very short space, just like buses, three new standards have arrived BS31100, ISO31000 and ISO31010. Furthermore, COSO keeps on throwing out guidance, including about Enterprise Risk Management. Most people do not have the time to keep up to date with all of these standards and people who were on top of the subject last year may well now find themselves out of date. |
| Practical Risk Tools – Risk Workshops and Risk Models |

This course is no longer offered by the IRM. Instead the IRM is developing a new course on the Fundamentals of Risk Management which will be launched in Spring 2010. |
The IRM’s commitment to providing high quality training is fundamental to us. Therefore we would like to invite training providers to develop and run a series of short courses in partnership with the IRM.
If you feel that you could develop, or have existing courses that you feel would benefit both members and non-members, then please complete a one page synopsis on each course along with some background about you and your organisation. Please submit these to shana.ellis@theirm.org.
