Reporting to the Project Director and functionally to the Regional Risk Manager (Europe & Sub Saharan Africa) the Project Risk Manager  will be responsible for leading and administering risk management programs on assigned proejcts.

Specific Duties:

  • Development of a risk execution plan (or Risk Management Plan) that aligns with the Client’s, WorleyParsons and ISO 31000 for risk frameworks. Develops, maintains and ensures implementation of the Project Risk Schedule. Develops, maintains and ensures implementation of all Project Risk Management procedures.
  • Ensures the number of qualified project risk personnel aligns with the size and nature of the project (e.g. multi-office execution) and the expectations of the function to support the project.  May need to engage other Project Management or obtain assistance external to the project (e.g. Regional Risk Manager).
  • Identifies or develops the appropriate tools / software to support the project’s risk management program.  May need to obtain assistance external to the project (e.g. WorleyParsons Information, Communications & Technology support)
  • Facilitation of risk workshops, reviews and discussions.  Coordinating with action owners to drive action implementation through proactive monitoring and communication with relevant key risk management stakeholder.  Promoting and educating the team in risk management.  Liaising with the Health, Safety & Environmetal (HSE), Security, Process safety, quantitative risk (project controls) teams where we interface.  Working with various Project teams to discuss risk issues specific to their scope of work to ensure work is conducted in accordance with the Risk Management Plan.
  • Reviewing Risk Register’s current controls for effectiveness and where necessary working with Quality Assurance (QA) to validate effectiveness. Ensuring that risks recorded and identified in the Project Risk Register as having ineffective treatment plans are further investigated by the project team to determine additional risk treatments that will reduce the risk to an acceptable level. Ensuring that once the treatment has been completed that the status of the risk is updated in the Project Risk Register. This is carried out in conjunction with the person responsible for actioning any treatments and the Project Manager. Participating in the monthly monitoring of the Risk Register and Action Plan with the Project Manager.
  • Working with high risk contractors to identify risks and implement management plans.
  • Regular reporting of risks including summaries and relevant risk metrics to the leadership team. Escalation of risk related issues as required. Development or supervision of input to project documents that contain sections related to the Risk Management function (e.g. Project Execution Plan, Project Organizational Plan, Invitation to Tender).

Qualifications

Undergraduate qualification (preferably related to Business, Project Management, Engineering or Science) or equivalent years experience.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a E / EPC / EPCM / PMC environment with strong working knowledge of risk management theory and practices

 

Requirements

 

Prior Senior Risk Management / Project risk experience

Qualitative rather than Quantitative experience is essential.

Previous oil and gas (onshore / offshore) risk management experience highly desired

Senior level position responsible for performing difficult and complex work assignments involving independent judgment to determine a course of action consistent with established functional and organization's policies and goals.

Ability to lead and/or train lesser seasoned individuals.

Advanced understanding of technical concepts in related field as well as other technical functions in related field.

Able to complete tasks in accordance with project procedures and applicable codes and/or standards. 

Able to discuss routine technical problems and communicate effectively with immediate supervisor and other project personnel.

Advanced proficiency with applicable software applications in related field. 

Advanced analytical and problem solving skills. 

Accuracy and attention to detail critical. 

Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities is critical.

Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential to effectively teach what they know to other employees. 

Ability to transfer subject matter expertise and understanding to other employees and/or internal customers is required regarding why work is performed the way it is and how it impacts the broader organization. 

Strong ability to persuade and influence others.

Commitment to customer service and ability to lead functional project teams is important.  

Ability to maintain confidential information is critical.
