Group Risk Manager – Overview

• Base salary up to £90K. Package to c. £125K
• Report to Audit Committee of Top 30 FTSE 100 company
• Assist Senior Management to embed a Risk Management culture
• Based Windsor (SL45GD). Travel to Group offices UK and overseas

Reporting to the Director of Treasury & Risk, you will embed a risk management culture across the Group.  A high-profile role, you will facilitate debate with Senior Management to ensure risk is actively considered across our diverse business units covering upstream, midstream and downstream.  In addition, you will manage Group risk reporting to internal and external stakeholders.

Group Risk Manager – The Role

• Influence/ educate senior management to understand the value of appropriate risk management and work with them to cascade this understanding through the organisation.
• Report the Group’s risks both internally to the Executive and Audit Committees and externally for example through annual report and accounts risk reporting.
• Facilitate and develop the risk management process to help business unit and corporate centre management identify current and emerging risks and develop and assess effective control processes to mitigate those risks.
• Co-ordinate and ensure the maintenance of risk registers at the business unit and group level.
• Develop effective working relationships across all levels of the organisation.
• Develop and maintain an insurance style risk management process for the management of risks within an in-house insurer.
• Maintain the Group’s confidential “Speak up” help line.

Group Risk Manager – The Person

We anticipate you are currently working in a FTSE 100 or blue chip corporate with the following:-

• Proven track record of instigating business change to improve risk management.
• Strong interpersonal skills to develop effective working relationships, with particular ability to influence senior executives.
• Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities, in particular the ability to distil information to identify key issues and present them to a challenging audience.
• Confidence, presence and determination to succeed in a dynamic and demanding business environment
• Well-rounded business skills, with the ability to understand the end-to-end Centrica supply chain.
• Proactive self-starter who can lead a modest team and influence peers to achieve a fast result.
• Understanding of the gas and/or electricity market would be advantageous.
