Risk Manager

American Express is looking to identify candidates for upcoming opportunities in Credit and Consumer Risk Management.

When you join American Express as a Risk Manager, you’ll be part of an international team, partnering with the risk decision science, worldwide fraud, technology, and risk operations teams to handle the development of risk management strategies and strengthen our competitive global position.

You’ll develop and implement account management strategies to help us avoid merchant account write-offs, by monitoring transactions and identifying out-of-pattern behaviour that might indicate an impending loss of credit. You’ll also provide our customers with first-class risk mitigation services, flagging behaviours which might lead to delinquency and giving an early warning to the regional risk officers of the businesses you find are at risk of financial instability.

You’ll also have the chance to work with recognized industry experts, gaining knowledge and experience in all things risk-related, including modelling and quantitative analysis. In addition, you’ll develop our management relationships with the merchants we represent, leading on calls with key clients and participating in cross-functional projects to create new business opportunities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics
• Excellent communication, presentation, and influencing skills
• Excellent financial analysis, corporate credit risk analysis, and financial modelling skills
• Advanced experience in Excel, PowerPoint, @Risk, and Sybase
• Previous merchant risk management experience
• SQL / SAS programming skills required for some positions
