The Roles:
Two newly created positions are available now with this market leading nationwide parking company. These are exciting opportunities to play a leading role in the ongoing development of corporate risk management across the business. With the briefs ranging from the tracking and analysis of corporate risks through the maintenance of quality standards and management of the departmental budget, you will have a full and varied workload.
The Risk Controller’s responsibilities will include: maintenance of the corporate risk register and providing advice to the risk committee on all aspects of business risk; overall responsibility for the analysis of trends affecting business security and the identification of action to be taken as a result of that analysis; liaison with the compliance and security departments to manage and mitigate identified areas of risk; managing the implementation of industry safety standards across the assets of the business; leading the company’s ISO process to ensure consistent delivery of quality standards; and taking financial responsibility both for the departmental budget and also the business-wide risk expenditure.
The Corporate Risk Analyst will be responsible for: assessing the existing models and methodology used for operational audit and trend analysis and making recommendations to enhance them; taking a leading role in the development of new systems to provide more effective technical analysis of the business; identifying and understanding all of the available data sources and ensuring this information is being utilised efficiently; developing reports which identify and track areas of risk within the business; and working with other departments (in particular, corporate security and compliance) to support their needs as part of the company’s overall risk management strategy.
The People:
Candidates for both these positions should have a good understanding of corporate risk with relevant experience, or be able to rapidly acquire that knowledge. Almost certainly a graduate, you may have worked in a similar customer-facing business. A professional risk qualification (e.g. IRM) will be an advantage. To be successful you will also need:
- A high degree of personal self discipline and integrity, allied with a strong work ethic.
- Good commercial financial skills.
- An analytical and enquiring mind with the ability to use your initiative.
- For the risk controller position, mature management skills as this role requires you not only to manage staff in the department, but also to be able to work closely with senior members of the company’s management team as well as other departments within the business.
- The ability to deliver written and verbal presentations clearly and concisely.
- Excellent all round communication skills.
