Here at GMPTE (Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive), we are working hard to improve public transport in Greater Manchester and are responsible for the delivery of more than £2 billion of Public Transport schemes over the next few years. 

We are striving to embed our vision to make public transport the preferred choice for Greater Manchester, so it’s a particularly exciting and challenging time to join us.  As the Risk Manager, you will reinforce this vision through ensuring a coordinated and consistent approach to risk management is undertaken across all GMPTE’s operational activities.

This role requires you to develop strategic risk frameworks to effectively identify and manage risks and trends across the organisation.  You will do this through overseeing the strategic risk register, setting KPI’s and implementing the GMPTE risk improvement plan. You will build strong relationships across the organisation and in doing so effectively transform not only risk practice, but the attitude and behaviour towards risk management through identifying and challenging our key priorities.  Your proactive approach to risk management practice should therefore result in heightening the awareness of key decision makers, ensuring the right mitigation is consistently in place. 

Considerable risk management experience and exposure to both project and operational environments is essential, together with exceptional communication skills and ability to influence to achieve results.  Due to the nature of the role, you should also have a proven track record of working closely with directors both for producing reports and day to day liaison.

A degree in a relevant subject and recognised qualification in risk management will also form the basis of your skill set, so if you feel you possess these skills and experience, as well as a desire to take risk management to a whole new level we’d be keen to hear from you.
