The Financial Services Compensation Scheme is the UK's statutory fund of last resort for customers of authorised financial services firms.  Its strategic objective is to achieve and be recognised for sustained professionalism and fairness in providing financial compensation, in a reasonable time and at a reasonable cost. The FSCS is looking to develop and enhance its risk management capability. The Risk Manager will ensure risk is approached in a structured, systematic way and that the right processes exist in the organisation and are continually reviewed. The Role:

• Driving the organisation-wide risk management strategy to ensure it is fit for purpose and reflects best practice, taking a holistic view in supporting the FSCS overall objectives and needs.

• Facilitating and managing risk assessment for all major programmes, projects and initiatives, ensuring appropriate processes and mitigation strategies are  embedded across the organisation.

• Fostering a culture of risk awareness and continuous improvement across the organisation, ensuring risk management is championed at a strategic and operational level and appropriate education, training and involvement occur.

The Candidate:

•  An experienced operational risk and business continuity professional, capable of supporting and challenging everyone in the organisation on risk issues in a structured and integrated way.

• Ability to research, evidence and recommend improvements and identify system changes with excellent communication, report writing and  presentation skills.

• Strong project manager with proven capability in defining and implementing business risk management strategy, policies and processes and a background in personal financial services.
