Role Overview:
Helping our clients to establish the correct level of Business Interruption insurance required is critical to our role of risk advisor and placing broker. Without the correct values, there is a real risk of under or over-insurance.
The role of Business Interruption Specialist is an integral part of our service offering, working directly with senior management both in Willis and our clients. The role requires you to gain a deep understanding about our clients’ business, quantify their loss exposures and often involves advice on how to minimise loss exposure through contingency and business recovery planning.
As a Business Interruption Specialist, you will have direct contact with Underwriters and will take part in new business presentations, developing proposed solutions and delivering them within tight timescales.
Clients in every field of business, manufacturing or support services will require your services, providing an ever-changing working environment that suits people who can carry responsibility and work on their own initiative.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Account Teams to retain existing clients, win new clients and to develop additional lines of business through cross-selling of specialist consultancy services
- Client propositions – develop and present proposals to complete BI studies either within the core fee or for an additional fee. Build collaborative partnerships with key Account Directors and Executives that consistently deliver long term earnings and value
- Develop and deliver BI training courses to non-experts within Willis Account Teams and Clients, generating training revenue where appropriate
- Undertake research and development in BI and associated services, respond to and anticipate client needs for risk consultancy and develop solutions to meet that need
- Innovation - Build a knowledge based environment where consultants and non-experts are able to deliver BI solutions using standardised methodologies and templates that deliver consistent, high-quality and timely outputs.
- Minimise the risk of errors and omissions by adopting the appropriate professional standards and ensure the office maintains a fully compliant operating environment.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Possess a high level of intelligence and be able to communicate at all levels within Willis and its Clients. You will be able to write clear and concise reports, based on analysis and interpretation of information you have obtained. You will be comfortable with presenting information in verbal or written form and to facilitate workshops involving large and small groups
- Possess a good technical understanding of business processes, the commercial marketplace, market forces in national and international business. You will be able to construct complex models to represent supply chain dependencies on a given assignment
- You will have held a similar position in an insurance company, insurance broker, risk consultant or in industry and commerce
- Ideally you will have an understanding of the insurance marketplace and in particular, knowledge of UK market practices for insuring property and business interruption risk exposures
- You will have a proven track record for developing and delivering risk management assignments. Ideally, you will also have the skill to generate work for others and to supervise its delivery using a team-based approach to problem-solving
- You will be IT literate, in particular in developing complex spreadsheets, creating presentations and written documents. Knowledge of MindMapping techniques and the ability to build dependency models would be an advantage
- You will possess a good understanding of IT systems, communications systems and how they are deployed within industrial and commercial situations
- Ideally you will have professional qualifications to degree level in insurance or risk management or a recognised degree in a relevant subject
- You will be capable of undertaking detailed Business Interruption reviews, understanding Business Continuity Management plans, understanding industrial and commercial processes, interpreting insurance policies and analysing financial data. You will be capable of presenting findings to Insurers and Clients
- You will be self-sufficient and able to work with the minimum of guidance or supervision. For most assignments, you will work on your own from service specification through to acceptance and sign-off of the final report by the client
What can we offer you?
You’ll enjoy the personal satisfaction and professional rewards that come with helping an industry leader to drive further success, plus the immediate rewards of an excellent salary and benefits package – including
