Purpose Of The Job/Objective
To assist the Chief Business Risk Analyst & Internal Auditor in his role of assessing the Group’s business risk and the provision of an internal audit function for the Group. This will include:
- Monitoring the risks associated with the Group’s operations, considering the effectiveness of the current business systems in managing those risks and make recommendations as appropriate
- Assisting in developing and implementing new business procedures appropriate to the Group’s operations
- Conducting internal audits to ensure that the Group’s business procedures, management systems and financial controls are appropriate and are being applied as prescribed; making recommendations as appropriate
Main Tasks
1. Assists the Chief Business Risk Analyst & Internal Auditor in reviewing the Group and relevant Joint Ventures’ internal control schedules and preparing revisions as appropriate.
2. Assists the Chief Business Risk Analyst & Internal Auditor in preparing and implementing Audit Timetables.
3. Tests the current internal controls, in accordance with the Audit Timetable, to ensure they are being applied effectively, preparing internal audit reports for presentation to relevant Senior Management and Group Subsidiary / Joint Venture Board members.
4. Assists in the preparation of reports for the Risk Management Committee and Audit Committee on the ongoing effectiveness of business and financial controls; making recommendations as appropriate.
5. Works with the Chief Business Risk Analyst & Internal Auditor in monitoring of the activities of the Key Business Documentation/Processes Working Parties to ensure the associated risks and opportunities are assessed, managed and communicated.
6. Assists the Chief Business Risk Analyst & Internal Auditor in working with Senior Management to ensure the Group and relevant Joint Ventures maintain an appropriate level and scope of cost effective insurances.
7. Assists the Chief Business Risk Analyst & Internal Auditor in claims management, liaising with relevant internal personnel, brokers, loss adjusters, insurers, lawyers and claimants.
8. Undertakes other ad hoc projects to investigate the application of Group business processes to ensure all procedures are being applied as prescribed.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent level of written, verbal and presentational skills.
- Computer literate.
- Full driving license.
- Educated to degree level (desired)
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to give firm but diplomatic advice. Analytical approach to business systems with a general appreciation of business procedures.
- Commercial experience of systems development and change management, ideally in respect of both business and computer systems.
- An understanding of ISO quality management systems.
- Self-motivated, with drive and enthusiasm to investigate problems and take solutions to those problems through to their ultimate conclusion.
- Highly organised with the ability to work on own initiative. A logical approach to day-to-day work with an ability to draft reports and create and use detailed excel documents.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in an appropriate manner.
- At least 3 years experience within Risk Management and Internal Audit Systems and Strategy.
