Although the IRM has many members, it is relatively small in terms of staff. The work is done by a small, committed office team; the Board of Directors, all of whom give their time voluntarily; and committees and panels consisting of IRM members (also volunteers) with IRM staff, sometimes supported by professional experts.

As a members' organisation, a major source of IRM's strength is the depth and breadth of involvement of the many members who contribute through these committees to our development and growth.

We are looking for further volunteers to join all of our standing committees for 2008 which are listed below. If you feel you have something to offer in any of these areas, please contact Steve Fowler, IRM Chief Executive at steve.fowler@theirm.org, outlining your specific skills and interests.

Volunteers can be based anywhere in the world and a full record of attendance at meetings is not necessary. Time commitment is not excessive with most committees meeting in London for around two hours six times a year. We seek to encourage members based outside London or the UK to join meetings via teleconference facilities.

Participation in IRM committees qualifies as CPD and also earns Fellowship points.

Education Committee
Responsibilities: developing educational products and services, for example the student support

Training Commitee

Responsibilities: supervising MoRU, BRM and future training development

Membership Committee
Responsibilities: membership criteria and member benefits

Marketing Committee
Responsibilities: developing and overseeing the marketing strategy for IRM

International Development

Responsibilities: developing and overseeing the business development strategy of the IRM

Corporate Governance Committee

Responsibilities: ensuring IRM meets best standards of corporate governance

Risk Forum Committee
Responsibilities: overseeing the IRM's annual Risk Forum

Fellowship panel
Responsibilities: assessing the eligibility of Fellowship applicants; reviewing dissertation topics; assessing dissertations.
