Richard is the Managing Director of Crowe Horwath Global Risk Consulting in the UK. A Chartered Accountant, he is a former partner at PwC where he led the Strategic Risk Services practice in EMEA. He has spent seven of the last ten years as a self-employed governance and risk management advisor to boards, and the rest of the time he has worked for a variety of organisations.
He has a particular interest in matters relating to ERM and how that fits with Corporate Governance, and wrote a report on Corporate Risk Management which addresses these topics for the OECD. He is chairman of IRM's Thought Leadership panel and a member of the BSi committee that produced BS31100. |

Steve Fowler MA, FIRM, FRSA, FCII, FIAM, CMIOSH

Steve was appointed CEO of the Institute of Risk Management in 2002. After graduating in chemistry from Oxford University, Steve joined the insurer Sun Alliance as a risk engineer. Ten years later, Steve set up the company’s business systems function. Leading the merger with Royal Insurance for the multinational business followed, then promotion to Commercial IT Director where Steve pioneered a unique business-led approach. Steve is a Fellow of the IRM, the Chartered Insurance Institute, the Royal Society of Arts and a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health.
His interests include the development of professionalism in risk management, learning from the past and the importance of people, communication and culture. Steve is a prolific writer and speaker on risk and change issues. Steve’s other interests include mountains, sailing, and growing things.

Alyson studied and passed her AIRM back in 2000 and has been involved with the IRM since this time. She has 25 years in the risk and insurance industry and works for Oval Insurance Broking Ltd. These years have involved working for brokers and insurers and Alyson has a wide range of knowledge spanning large corporate firms, international business, and has been involved with the charity sector since 1995. Alyson is committed to her work as a Director of the IRM and speaks at various events for both Oval and the IRM.

Brad has been a member of the Institute for over eight years and in that time have worked, in a voluntary capacity, for the Institute in a number of roles. For the period 2006 to 2009 he was a member of the organising committee for the Forum, including chairing the committee for the organisation of the 2008 and 2009 Forums. Today he is an examiner for the Institutes diploma qualification, having qualified as Member in 2006 and achieved Fellowship status in 2009. He is also a member of IRM’s Governance Committee.

Socrates has been a member of the Institute since the mid 1990s and has been actively involved with IRM since this time. He is a qualified Civil Engineer, with a Masters in Insurance and Risk Management, a Fellow of IRM as well as the Chartered Insurance Institute. Socrates is also an Assistant Examiner for the Risk in Organisations module on the IRM International Diploma programme, has set up International Special Interest Groups and has delivered IRM courses and spoken at numerous seminars in the Middle East.
Socrates has spent 14 years working in General Insurance, Reinsurance as well as offering Built Environment consulting and is currently working for PwC in London.
Socrates has effectively led on a cross border basis, a change management process by implementing Enterprise Risk Management having worked closely with Boards and establishing governance structures. He places particular emphasis on cultivating a culture of risk ownership and best practice across all operational functions including Business Continuity Management. Socrates is passionate about Risk Management and keen to promote our profession through further education and at all organisational levels.

Charles Clayton MIRM

Charles Clayton has 10 years of senior risk management and internal audit leadership with FTSE100 businesses. He currently heads the audit and risk function at Reckitt Benckiser (FMCG) and previously held the same role at both Kingfisher (Retail DIY) and Compass Group (Food Service). Before that, Charles spent 19 years with Unilever (FMCG), mostly in Finance roles; these included Finance Directorships of Unilever businesses in Mexico and the USA. As well as living overseas for 11 years, he has also travelled widely and speaks a number of foreign languages.
Charles began his career with the ultimate risk management experience, with 5 years as an officer in HM Royal Marines! As well as being a Director and Member of the Institute of Risk Management (MIRM), he is also a Chartered Management Accountant (FCMA) and a Chartered Director (C Dir).

Colette has been a member of IRM since the late 1990’s and has always had an active involvement in its educational and training activities. As a member of the training committee she acted as project manager in developing the ‘Managing Risk’ course. Her efforts were recognised with the presentation of the Chairman’s award for services to the IRM. More recently Colette authored the ‘Management of Risk and Uncertainty’ training material and as chair of the training committee she was responsible for developing the training course accreditation process in place today.

Marie Gemma has been involved in risk management implementation (25 years in Belgian multinational BEKAERT) with organisational and international aspects together with risk governance, as well as embedding risk management in processes, procedures, budgets and projects.
She recognises the importance of permanent training in order to adapt skills to the evaluation of risk management discipline in different areas. She has been involved in boards and audit and risk committees and participated in the approval of strategy, including risk appetite and risk strategy, the follow up of results of risk management activities and deepening of risk management culture.
Marie plans to spread IRM’s mission and vision in Europe and worldwide and collaborate in development of knowledge and skills in Risk management.

Alex Hindson is the Chief Risk Officer of Amlin AG, the reinsurance division of Amlin Plc, which is a leading independent insurer operating in the Lloyd’s, UK, Continental European and Bermudian markets. He leads the risk, compliance and legal functions for the reinsurer operating in Bermuda and Switzerland. He was also responsible for the implementation of Amlin’s enterprise risk management programme incorporating risk and governance to support the business's Solvency II implementation. Alex has previously been Head of Enterprise Risk Management at Aon, leading an ERM consulting practice and before that Risk Services Manager at AstraZeneca Plc where he led the implementation of ERM and BCM across the group. He is originally a chemical engineer and is a Fellow of the Institute of Risk Management. He was Chairman of the Institute in 2010/2011. |

Pesh is a chartered accountant who has been involved in the not-for-profit sector, both professionally and as a volunteer, for over 30 years. He writes and lectures extensively and has hands on experience of financial management, governance, regulation, risk management, strategy, performance measurement and knowledge management. He leads the not-for-profit unit at Crowe Clark Whitehill LLP. Prior to this he was a partner with a similar role in Deloitte and Arthur Andersen. Pesh is Special Advisor to the Charity Finance Directors' Group.

José is the European Enterprise Risk Director for Aviva, where he is responsible for risk oversight, governance and capital management of Aviva’s European operations in 12 countries. He is also responsible for Aviva’s Solvency II (Pillar 2) at European level.
José brings extensive international experience in insurance, banking and management consulting. Prior to Aviva, José was Chief Risk Officer for Groupama Insurance. He has also played senior roles for McKinsey & Company, Moody's Investor Service, Liberty Mutual and Banco Santander.
José holds a MBA from Instituto de Empresa (Madrid), a Master of Science in Finance from Boston College, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies from University of Castilla-La Mancha (Albacete, Spain). José is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter-holder and IRM member.

Amelia Stubbs is a Senior Client Partner at Korn/Ferry Whitehead Mann in London. Her primary focus is the development of the Global Risk Practice as well as providing talent management solutions to a broad array of clients in the rapidly evolving Risk arena.
With over ten years of experience in senior Risk appointments, Amelia has worked extensively across financial services and has a growing Practice with non-financial services clients. Within the Financial Services sector, she has executed senior appointments across all risk disciplines and multiple sectors as well worked with Regulatory clients in their appointment of senior leaders, risk specialists and Senior Advisors. Amelia also advises clients on their talent management agenda specifically on the assessment and development of their Risk professionals.
She holds a Law degree from the University of Westminster.

Jeremy Harrison

| Jeremy Harrison has worked in risk management for over 20 years, across safety, projects and corporate, in a number of parts of the organisation and locations. He is responsible for setting the standards and providing the support for risk management and value management (through a team of over 40 specialists) across projects with an annual expenditure of over £4Bn.
Jeremy was awarded Highly Commended in the European Risk Manager of the Year category at the Strategic Risk Awards 2012. His team were also Highly Commended at the Risk Professional Awards 2010 in the Risk Team of the Year category. He is chair of the British Standards Institute, Risk Management technical committee RM/1, a Visiting Fellow at Warwick Business School and a Research Associate at UCL.
He is pioneering new thinking for improving the management of risk based around creativity and knowledge management. |
